Shouting Fire Media

Forging Opportunities with Creativity, Unity and Strength!

Femme Media F.O.C.U.S. (Forging Opportunities through Creativity, Unity and Strength)

Women account for the tiniest fraction of media content producers. As the Celluloid Ceiling 2012 Report indicates, western women of account for just 18% of directors, executive producers, producers, writers, cinematographers, and editors.

Unfortunately, African women are virtually absent from this equation. The few Guinean women that have access to viewing media content are inundated with stereotypes created by men that often portray them as hypersexualized, economically dependent, manipulative, ignorant and powerless. But Shouting Fire Media is rewriting that old script with Femme Media F.O.C.U.S.

Our program gives girls and women ages 8 and up an opportunity to express themselves creatively while supporting academic and professional development.

The writing elements of our program enhance student performance in the classroom. The computer, camera and other technical training provides highly sought after skills. In Guinea, there is a huge demand for media yet there are few institutions that offer such training.

Our program introduces participants to a coveted career path in independent storytelling and media production. But, perhaps the most important component is that the process of authoring and sharing stories is liberating and empowering in it's own right.

Femme Media F.O.C.U.S. training includes:

  • Literacy
  • Media Literacy
  • Media Production from Concept to Completion
  • Operating Still and Video Cameras
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Creative Writing
  • Beginning Writing for Blogs and Social Media
  • Leadership
  • Entrepreneurship
